Tragic Real Life Story of Robert Downey Jr. that Will Make You Believe Anything is Possible

“I am Iron Man”, Robert’s last words as Iron Man left everyone in tears. But Robert’s real-life story would make you cry harder. He is a Superhero, a millionaire & one of the greatest actors on this Planet. But did you know he was a Drug Addict, a Prisoner, and a completely broke person?

By the end of this post, you will learn, “Anything is Possible! If you really wanna Achieve it.”

So let me tell you the story of this little boy……

1. I don’t want to go all Michael Jackson on you, but I never really had a childhood.

Born to drug addict father, Robert started using drugs when he was six years old & turned an addict when was just 8 years old. Feels like a terrible dream right?

But it’s True. Robert started using drugs to connect with his father because he thought that was the only way. His father still regrets the decision of introducing Marijuana to him. Imagine that kind of childhood, can you? Trying to be cool, Robert started abusing harder drugs like cocaine & heroin as well. The process of quitting is quite difficult. We know it is, but it’s not impossible, right?

Addiction thrills but kills. Not just an addiction to Drugs, any kind of addiction has a harmful effect not only on your physical body but also on your mental health.

“Being cool only helps you get through teenage life, What about the rest?”

2. Life is just so painful and messy and hard and worth it and all that stuff.

Robert always knew he wanted to be an actor & he became one. He started acting when he was just 5 years old. His acting career was going great, he even scored an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Charlie Chaplin. But after a few years, drugs were the only thing that was speaking out his bio & not his acting. Did you have a past where people just see your bad side and not the bright? Don’t you want to improve them?

Getting arrested every now and then, Robert made headlines just about his bad side. Surrounded by all the negativity he felt to surrender himself to drugs every day because that was his only escape Because real men don’t ask for help right?

Wrong! It’s okay to ask for help, it’s okay to cry, it’s okay to shout out your pain. What’s not okay is to keep things to yourself & feel suffocated. Everybody has his/her own demons to deal with but people forget that they don’t have to face it alone. You don’t need a therapist, all you need is a true friend, a lover or just your parents maybe.

“People are always there for you! All you have to do is reach out to them.”

3. Remember that just because you hit bottom doesn’t mean you have to stay there”

Robert was imprisoned & sentenced to a year in Jail. Imagine you are not a criminal & people make you the ONE. What will you do?

Jail time was terrible for Downey. He was literally harassed & beaten up by other prisoners. There were times when he woke up with his blood covering his whole body. Terrible things happened to Robert in prison every day. What if you had no escape? Can you live your life in Limbo?

It’s easy to embrace hopelessness & feel like things will never change, but it’s difficult to find hope. Even the most difficult situations can resolve themselves if you are persistent & if you don’t give up. And that’s what you have to do for yourself, Never Give Up! Are you a quitter or are you a winner? It’s your choice, it’s your life and it’s ending one minute at a time. So hurry uptake the decision & implement it. It’s now or never.

“Quitting is easy, But it’s difficult to find hope. One will make you Sad but others will make you Happy”

4. I think life changes every year. This is just a little more comfortable.

In 2003, he met the love of his life, his current wife Susan Levin. She insisted that she would only marry him if he gave up drugs for good. In a dramatic way, he threw all his drugs into the Pacific Ocean. After that, he entered a 12 step program and started doing meditation, yoga and martial arts.  The biggest battle of his life began. And then he conquered the world. Don’t you wanna quit your bad habits? Start now!

In 2008, Downey started playing the iconic role of Iron Man. After almost 10 years in the role, he has appeared in Iron Man 2, Iron Man 3, The Avengers, Avengers: Infinity War and many more in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It’s never too late to change yourself. Self-discipline is the key. You are creating discipline with your daily habits.  And once something becomes a habit, you don’t need strong willpower to force yourself to do it.

“You just need to realize your true purpose in Life”
